I referred a patient to gastroenterology as par my consultant's request (whilst still on ward round). When I spoke to the registrar, he gave me a list of things to do for the patient before he came round, which included a PR (examination of back passage). I had planned to do it after the ward-round but the registrar came earlier than I expected. The registrar saw to the patient and made a plan, which he documented in the notes including the list of investigations and the PR.

Now, it doesn't surprise me that the registrar didn't do it but it kind of irks me all the same. They were there at the bedside... why didn’t they just do it?
