Today was a long day. Not exceptionally long, because I was finished by half 3, but long in the sense that it dragged on and on.
I was in clinic today and sat in whilst the consultant, lovely lady, diagnosed a basal cell carcinoma and a melanoma. To the un-medical mind, both these guys are malignancies (cancer). Two different people, two different responses. The former was a woman in her 70s who became quite teary and needed reassurance that her BCC would not spread and in fact was the better one to get. Whilst the other gentleman wondered whether the surgery to remove his malignant melanoma would interfere with his upcoming trip to Italy.
